Shawn LeMar Harlee entered this world on July 7, 1971 to his mother, Evon Alexander and father Larry Harlee. at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.
His education began at the St. Katherine School in East Baltimore. He then attended the Paul Laurence Dunbar High School and graduated in 1989. While in high school, Shawn met a group of people who together developed an undeniable bond that has lasted to this very day: Andrea Strong, Michael Boone, Veronica Gee, and Nichole Washington. They referred to themselves as the “Buckets”, and everyone who came around them knew they were in for a special time of fun and laughter. After graduation, Shawn continued his education at Baltimore Community College where he earned an Associate of Art Degree in Communication in 1994.
Shawn was employed by the Federal government for 29 years. His most recent position was that of Supervisor for the Department of Transportation in Washington, D.C. His co-workers adored him. He was so full of life in the work place. He was a leader, a mentor, and friend to everyone.
Going to Washington every day on the train was enriching. He met another group of people he called “my train crew.” From Baltimore to Washington, there was nothing but laughter, jokes, what are you going to do today, what’s in the lunch bag, and I’ll see you at 5.
Laughter was an enormous part of Shawn’s life. He loved people and in turn he was loved. He knew just how to make you laugh even when things may not have been going right that day. He didn’t have to say a word. Just his look and his smile would make your day.
Family and friends meant the world to Shawn. His mother was his heart, his breath of fresh air. His sister, “Niki” was the light that twinkled in his eyes, and his niece, Mia, was his “everything.” His lifelong friends are Bernard Tyler, Malachi Jefferson and Danielle Johnson. Movie night and dinner at a restaurant with his sister and cousin Raquel was a “mark your calendar” event.
Shawn left us too soon, but it was the will of God. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Evon Tabron; sister, Chante “Niki” Tabron; his precious niece, Mia Evon; great aunt, Ann Douglas; aunts, Shirley Means, Barbara Allen (Donald), cousins Raquel Boyce, Ronald Boyce, Jr. (Mary); Marvin Douglas, Sr.(Tervonia), Marvin Douglas, Jr. (Asia), three beautiful godchildren Wayne Paige, Jr. (Mother Andrea), Reginald Kearney, Jr. and Mi Yoshi Kearney (Mother Danielle). Other family members include Jordan Merritt, DeRon Boyce, Jazmyn Boyce, Laila, Logan and Matthew Douglas, Charles Thompson, and ZEUS, his canine companion.
God gave Shawn a multitude of friends who loved him and he them. He will be missed!
