Robert Lloyd "Bobby'O" Colbert, Jr., the oldest child of the late Robert Lloyd "Buddy" Colbert, Sr. and the late Ethel Teresa "Tressie" Dugger, was born on March 3rd, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life on February 5, 2019, after a lengthy fight with heart disease.
Bobby’O, as he was affectionately called, received his education with Baltimore City Public Schools. He worked as a model for Hamburgers Clothing and a movie projectionist for multiple theaters including the Biddle Theatre, Apollo Theatre and Metropolitan Theatre. On April 8th, 1961, he married the love of his life, the late Carole Justine "Baye" Cosby and from that union they raised four children: Tonya Justina Davis, Robert Lloyd "Buddy" Colbert, III (preceded in death), Towanda Renee "Poochie" Dorsey and Shannon LaVar Colbert (preceded in death). Bobby'O, also known as DaDa by his grandchildren and other family and friends, loved to laugh, tell stories about his childhood, read books, fix puzzles and watch TV - especially old classics. He was known to be witty with his jokes and constantly make everyone around him laugh and enjoy his company. There was never a dull moment with Bobby’O and he will truly be missed.
Bobby’O is also preceded in death by his brothers George "Georgie" Colbert, Charles "Ricky" Thomas and Gregory Thomas, his sister Ethel "Pratt" Colbert and his grandson Jonathan Colbert. He leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters, Tonya Davis and Towanda Dorsey; two sons-in-law, Darryl Davis Sr. and Rodney Dorsey Sr.; one sister, Barbara Lee; one brother-in-law, Robert Lee; thirteen grandchildren: Ebony Davis, Darryl Davis Jr. and Tasha Davis (Tonya); Shannell Hall, Jasmine Colbert and Kimberly Colbert (Buddy); Brittany McNeil, Quanda McNeil, LaRita Smith and Robert Dorsey, Jr. (Towanda); Shabria Colbert, Shantierra Colbert and Shannon Colbert Jr. (Shannon); fourteen great-grandchildren, one special cousin, Ronald Coleman and a host of cousins, family and friends.
