Leroy Robinson Jr Obituary

LEROY A. ROBINSON JR.,first child born to the late Leroy A. Robinson, Sr., and the late Leovester Jenkins Robinson, was born on September 9, 1935 in Baltimore, Maryland.

Leroy received his education in the Baltimore City Public School System. He attended the Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, where he was a graduate of the class of 1955. He became a member of the Dunbar High School Alumni Association, attending and participating in the events that were sponsored. Leroy gained employment with the Baltimore City Public School System, of which he was a dedicated, faithful and loyal employee until his retirement in 1996.

At an early age, Leroy accepted the Lord as his Savior at the Faith Baptist Church, along with his family, under the leadership of the late Rev. Simon Williamson. On January 4, 1981, through Christian Experience, he accepted the invitation to Christian Discipleship at the Israel Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. H. Walden Wilson, II and was fellowshipped in on February 15, 1981.

Living the life of a bachelor for many years, Leroy was a very outgoing and fun-loving gentleman. After living years of this lifestyle of being a carefree bachelor, Leroy decided it was time to settle down. Along came his childhood friend Barbara Powell Ball. They were united in Holy Matrimony on September 17, 1989-just six weeks after their courtship! This proves that this marriage was ordained by God!

Leroy and Barbara found joy in attending worship services at Israel, going out to eat and attending Jazz Shows. Leroy was a member of the left Bank Jazz Society. In fact, on March 9th at the Forest park Senior Jazz Show, the place came alive when Leroy entered the center. They began shouting out his name as he danced without his cane and walker, surprising the crowd, and even Barbara! They all stood up, rocking, singing and they gave Leroy a standing ovation. Leroy with such a big smile, enjoyed himself tremendously.God blessed him to enjoy his last hurrah!

Known for his swanky dress attire and his big friendly smile, Leroy always looked like he stepped out of a GQ magazine. His outfits would match from head to toe. He had a generous heart and was a good listener. In he early morning hours of Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 5:23 a.m, Leroy A. Robinson, Jr., was called to his eternal resting place in perfect peace. For Jesus said, "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."

Leroy leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife, Barbara; his brother, Reginald Robinson; his step-sons, Jimmy Edward Ball (Susan) and Myles Jerard Ball (Carol); twenty-eight grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; his lifelong friends, Reginald Jackson and William Foster, his special friend, Walter Hunter; many other friends, and his Israel Baptist Church Family. His sister, Jean Snowden, preceded him in death.
