DEACON LEONARD LESTER MARTIN, JR, son of the late Leonard L. and Katie R. Martin was born on October 8, 1946 in Baltimore, Maryland. He attended St. Francis Xavier and Kenwood High School, later receiving a certificate of graduation from Lincoln Technical Institute.
Deacon Martin married Margie Holley on September 2, 1968 and from this union they had one son, Bryant Kenneth Martin. Deacon Martin worked as a forklift operator for over 30 years and later became a front office security advisor for Lever Brothers, Inc. He also operated and oversaw B & L Video Production. Deacon Martin was a motorcycle enthusiast alongside his father and was a member of a motorcycle club called The Nomads.
Over the last several years, Deacon Leonard Martin went through a tremendous transition from "Tony' to 'Dada'. On Sunday, October 18th, 2015, he was ordained as a Deacon at Freedom Church and Ministries, Incorporated. He could frequently be found joking and playing with various members of the church and his special grand kids. Deacon Martin would often be found sacrcastically antagonizing Mother Margie Martin by calling her "Mother", yet later gracefully bowing out by suggesting that he was only "funnin". He was unapologetically unfiltered, where his commentary and expressions would tell never-ending stories.
Deacon Leonard Lester Martin leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Margie Allen Martin; one son, Bishop Bryant Kenneth Martin; daughter-in-law, Tonya Martin; one loving granddaughter, Taylor Martin; three sister-in-laws, Pastor Delores Boyd, Ruby Mitchell and Sarah Fullmore; one brother-in-law, Unsolo Holley, Sr. (Theresa); one aunt, Gean Holley; three uncles, Gene Stevenson, Charles Jordan and Winfred Armstrong, and a host of loving family members and dear friends.
