LAVERNE J. DANIEL-JOHNSON, daughter of the late Geraldine Waters Daniel and Dan Daniel, was born on April 30, 1956 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was called home to be with the Lord on October 26, 2017. Laverne was the first of two children to her parents.

Laverne attended Northwestern High School and later the Baltimore City Community College. She worked at the Chesapeake Commons Apartment complex and later at Family and Children's Services in the Park Heights area. Laverne was also a volunteer at the St. Francis Head Start facility for many years. 

Laverne was a loving mother and very proud of each of her three children, Brian Daniel, Devin Johnson and David Gross. The love of her life was, Tony Townsend, he was her caretaker and constant companion.

Laverne enjoyed playing cards and attending family reunions and social events. She loved the holiday season and all it meant to her and the family.

She soldiered through many health challenges and operations with a very determined spirit. Laverne's pleasant personality and gregarious nature was an inspiration. She will surely be missed by all who knew her.

Laverne was preceded in death by her son, Brian Daniel. She leaves to cherish her memory: sons, Devin Johnson (Nichole) and David Gross; grandchildren, Devin Johnson Jr., Dijae Johnson and Brandon Daniel; sister, Rhonda Holsey; nephew, Dwayne Adams; aunts, Patricia Plazz, Aurelia Bell (Cad) and Joanne Blackmore; cousin Sara Blackmore; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many other beloved family members.
