Lauretta Glass Obituary

LAURETTA GLASS (Puddin, Mama L. Wheezy) was born in Baltimore, Maryland on March 29, 1940 the daughter of the late Victoria and Postell Hardges. Lauretta was one of four siblings two of whom preceded her in death William and Thurl Hardges she was the only girl of three brothers.

On July 16, 2019, after a lengthy illness she was called to rest. Lauretta was a Warrior despite her health issues, she fought a good long and hard fight.

She received her education in Baltimore City Public Schools. Lauretta begun working for the Baltimore City Public School System as a Food Service Worker in 1971. She was employed with Baltimore City Schools for 30 years until her retirement in 2001. While Lauretta was unable to finish school due to her mother needing her to help at home she did return in 2014 to obtain her High School Diploma which she dedicated her time and attention to until she was unable due to her illness.

Lauretta was a dedicated member of the New David Baptist Church of Christ. She dedicated 40 years to membership and Christ. Lauretta served on the Usher Ministry, the Nursing Ministry, Women of Integrity as well as Kings Kitchen. Lauretta was always willing to help in the kitchen when needed.   

Lauretta loved to cook. Her specialty was sweet potato pie, cookies, cakes and peach float which were all made from scratch and family recipes. You could find Lauretta playing spades or 5000 as well as Pokeno. Lauretta loved to travel rather it was on a plane, train or bus. She enjoyed time with her family and friends. Lauretta loved to eat crabs and shrimp.

Lauretta wore many hats throughout her life from daughter to sister to mother to wife to grandmother to great grandmother to great-great grandmother and friend.

She leaves to mourn one brother Harvard Hardges; one devoted god sister, Audrey Chambers-Mills; and continuing her legacy two daughters, Rosetta Hardges and Linda Hardges-Scruggs (Gregory Scruggs); seven grandchildren Larissa Carson (Robert Carson) Lawrence Mosley Jr., Eric Mosley Sr., Terence Grandy Sr., Aleta Grandy, Laemal Kent Sr., Diwaun Paige; eleven great grandchildren, Keon Lemon, Kenise Carson, Eric Mosley Jr., Nevaeh Grandy, Laemal Kent Jr., Kenan Mosley, Morgan Mosley, Terence Grandy Jr., Tristan Grandy; one adopted great-grand (Latiea Backus) and three great-great grand Ja'Nasia Hall, Ja'Monte Carson, Kamira Carson and one adopted great-great granddaughter (Angel Reed) and a host of friends and family too numerous to name.
