Today, we celebrate the life of Joyce Rochelle Jones-Gordon, affectionately known as "Nehi: by family and friends. On the morning of November 4, 2018, God stopped by Good Samaritan Hospital and whispered comforting words in her ear calling her to her heavenly home. Joyce was born in Baltimore, Maryland on September 19, 1966 to her proud and loving parents, Ruby and Willie Jones, Jr. her father preceded her in death. Joyce was raised in Baltimore and educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. She graduated from Lake Clifton Senior High School in 1984.Continuing her education, she received a Business Degree from Strayer University.
On March 27, 2009, she married her "Mr. Wonderful" George Gordon, Jr. Joyce always said that day was one of the happiest moments in her life. Joyce would proudly say that she didn't need to work anymore because she had a BMW " Black Man Working." She loved him and George definitely loved her. Joyce loved her family and was always eager to plan the next family event. She always sent group text messages with reminders of family member's birthdays and special events. Her family meant a lot to her, but her most enjoyable time was spent with her children and grandchildren. She truly adored them. Joyce loved life and brought energy into every room. She could give a dramatic performances at the drop of a hat. She would enter into a room and announce, "The Pretty One" or the "Fabulous One" has arrived. Her other favorite saying was " My Daddy Said..." She had a fun, loving and magnetic personality. She brought joy into your life with her presence whether you wanted to be happy or not.
She enjoyed a life long friendship with her road dog and BFF Constance "Connie" Pierce. Joyce leaves to cherish her memory, her loving and devoted husband, George Gordon , Jr., Five Children, Sierra Johnson, Norwood Johnson, Jr., Leonard Waters, Malik Jackson and Jermarria Poole, whom she raised as her daughter; four grandchildren, Trisjan, Leonard, Nori and Ava; mother, Ruby B. Jones; five sisters, Joann Jones, Michele Brown, Stephanie Jones, Kim Glaude', Nancy Jones and one brother Willie Jones; daughter-in-law, Destiny Waters; sister-in-law, Sabrina Newsom Jones; mother-in-law Inell Gordon and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. The family gives special recognition to her Uncle Romey Allen Jr., Norwood Johnson Sr., Clarence Jackson and all those who have supported the family through this difficult time. Her presence will be greatly missed.
