JOSEPH JENNINGS,son of the late James and Lucille Jennings, was born on August 29, 1943 in Sumpter, South Carolina. He was one of eight children.
Joseph received his education in Sumpter, South Carolina and was a graduate of the Ebenezer High School. He relocated and made his home in Baltimore, Maryland. He gained employment with the Southern Galvanizing Company, where he was a dedicated and loyal employee for 47 years until his retirement in August, 2016.
Joseph met and dated the former Charlene Smith. They were united in Holy Matrimony for eighteen years. From this union, their two families came together as one, both their children and grandchildren.
Joseph accepted the Lord as his personal Savior at the Calvary Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland. Years later, with his Christian Experience, he accepted the Invitation to Christian Discipleship and joined the Israel Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. H. Walden Wilson, II, and was fellowshipped in on December 5, 2013. Joseph loved listening to the Preached Word and he loved Pastor Wilson. Joseph was a member of the Pastor's Aide Ministry, along with his wife, Charlene.
Joseph loved men's fashions and loved to dressed. He was especially fond of his many caps that you would often see him wear. He also loved to travel as well as listen to music-R & B and the Motown Sound. Folks gave him the nickname-"The Music Man".
On Sunday, July 21, 2019, Joseph Jennings, was called to take his journey to his eternal resting place. There he is finding comfort and peace with his Lord and Savior. Joseph is now in heaven with his family who have journeyed on before him-his parents, his two brothers, Clarence Jennings and James Jennings and his two sisters, Ella Dianne Cotton and Betty McNeil. Although Joseph was a quiet and mild-mannered man, he had a kind spirit and a big heart. He made friends wherever he went and will be sincerely missed by everyone who knew him. His family saw him as a true and loyal friend and a devoted family man.
Joseph's memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Charlene; one son, Joseph Jennings, Jr. of Baltimore, MD and two step-children, Tiffany Brown and Troy Brown, both of Baltimore, MD; two sisters, Marqurite McNeil and Barbara Jennings both of Baltimore, MD; one brother, B.J.
