James R. Hicks, son of Lawerence Hicks Jr. and the late Bernice Hicks who preceded him in death was born on January 15, 1961 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life on December 19, 2017, after a lengthy illness. He received his education in the Baltimore City Public School System. He was a jack of all trades. He worked as a truck driver for ABC Rental and the Baltimore City Jail system. He also worked in Maintenance with the Baltimore City Housing Authority. But his passion was home improvement. On March 5, 2010, James married Jacqueline Hicks and they blended their family with two daughters, Presious Hicks and Latasha Anthony. James accepted Christ at an early age. Later in life he was baptized at Zion Baptist Church. James was preceded in death by his mother Bernice Hicks, his Father and mother-in- law, Charles and Emma Cureton and three brothers Eric, Charles, and Marvin Hicks. He leaves to mourn: his wife Jacqueline Hicks, one daughter, Presious Hicks, one step-daughter, Latasha Anthony, four grandchildren, Ma’kiyah Christian, Christopher Thompson Gladney Jr, Kori’ Thompson Gladney, and Ki’shaun Thompson Gladney, Three step-grandchildren, Ka’lian Alston, Kyle Alston, and Taylor Alston, His father Lawrence Hicks Jr. Seven sisters, Virginia Mackall, Rose Clowney(Charles), Gloria Hicks, Marie Smith, Stephanie Hicks, Denise Mackall and Myra Hicks. Five Brothers, Earl Gray, Lawerence Hicks III, Jerry Hicks(Kim), Kevin Hicks and Darrell Hicks. Two close friends, Tyrone Phillips and Raymond King, and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
