James D. Gray (affectionately known as Bud or Rock), son of the late Charlie and Martha Gray, was born on July 15, 1949 in Halifax, North Carolina.
He was educated in Baltimore City Public Schools. At the age of 22 he entered the US Army. After a short stint at Maryland Drydock Co., his passion for people led him into career as a Taxi Driver starting with Royal Cab Co. and later with Yellow Cab Co. where he worked until he was physically unable to in 2017.
James was a soft spoken, charming, outgoing, well-dressed man that loved to dance. Whether you saw him day or night inside or outside James always had on his cap and shades. If you ever questioned his stand point he’d be quick to say “You must don’t know my record”. He will sincerely be missed by everyone that knew him.
James was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters Rose Green and Doris Mason, 3 brothers Alonzo Gray, Harry Gray Sr. and Percy Gray Sr. His celebration of life will be remembered by his son Jamar Gray, 4 grandchildren Jamara, Jamar, Jamera and Jaylen, 1 aunt Viola Sykes (North Carolina), 4 sisters Katie Seimah, Lucy Killebrew (Walter) , Carrie Gray and Betty Jacobs, 1 sister in law Ruth Gray , 5 nieces, 6 nephews, 21 great nieces and nephews as well as a host of other family and friends.
A special Thank You to his 2 friends Joseph Cotton and Cheryl Easley for all of your love and support.
