Ivy Butler Obituary

IVY C. BUTLER daughter of the late Edward and Margaret Carey was born on September 13, 1931 in Baltimore, Maryland. After a short illness, she departed this life on Thursday May 254, 2019.

Ivy attended Baltimore City Public Schools and graduated from Dunbar High School. She has been a dedicated member of Faith Baptist Church, since 1945. She served on the Usher Board, Matron Auxiliary Board, Family Life Committee, Vacation Bible Study, Sunday School Ministry and Financial Secretary for many years.

She worked for John's Hopkins Hospital for several years. After leaving John's Hopkins Hospital, Ivy was employed by the Migeon family whom she worked for over 30 years and help raise their three children (her extended family). She also volunteered at Kennedy Krieger Institute and was a long time member at the Oliver Senior Center.

Ivy loved to shop, go out to dine and spend time with her family, especially during the holidays. She was very rich in her wisdom concerning hr family's history. She was very well known an knew a lot of people. Ivy had no hesitation speaking her mind and letting people know how she felt about anything.

Ivy was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret A. Smith and Leila Holmes, four brothers, Russell, Richard, Thomas and Raymond Carey; one nephew George H. Holmes, a great niece Michelle Smith and great great nephew Daryl Augustus.

She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter Alicia Christain and son-in-law Kenneth Christain; three nieces, Carolyn Martin (John), Jacqueline Marshall and Gloria Williamson (Reginald), two nephews Melvin Merritt Jr. and Raymond A. Carey, her extended family Claude and Barbara Migeon and their three children Jacques C. Jean-Paul and Nicole Migeon and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and a very devoted friend Harry Hunter.
