Mr. Hulin Johnson Sr. was born on August 12, 1930 in Halifax, North Carolina. The son of the late Tillman Johnson and Della Lockett. He departed this life after a short illness on May 6, 2018.
He received his education in the public school system in Tillery, North Carolina. In his early 20’s, he left North Carolina to make Baltimore his home. He was employed by Gray Concrete Pipe Company and Hydro Condo as a professional truck driver for more than 40 years, until his retirement. He logged many miles driving up and down the east coast. Hulin enjoyed hunting, gardening and fishing with a passion.
In 1985, Hulin gave his life to Christ along with his wife. Jessie and Hulin became members of Greater St. John Full Gospel Baptist Church, Inc. Hulin loved his church and was a devoted and dedicated member. He served as a Trustee for many years and enjoyed doing odd jobs around the church. He continued his service to the church as long as his health allowed him to do so. Trustee Johnson loved and was loved. His faithfulness and devotion to his family and his church will be missed.
He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. Hulin was preceded in death by three sisters, five brothers and two sons. He will fondly and lovingly remembered by Jessie Mae, his friend, companion and wife for more than 69 years.
He leaves to mourn two sons, Hulin Jr. and Maurice Johnson, daughter in-law Theresa; two daughters, Jessie Fay Thompson, Elizabeth Robinson; son in-law, Ralph Sr.; sixteen grandchildren, Ralph Jr., Nickina, Toye, Theresa, Sean, Cierra, Batrina, James, Eric, Christopher, Butch, John Jr., Andre, Candice, Meloney, and Teresa Arthur; Karen Thornton (daughter in-law), nine great grandchildren, Justin, Alexander, Christopher, Najia, Brandon, Brienna, Kayla, Mia, and Blake A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
