Frances M. Cunion, daughter of the late Samuel and Gladys Green, was born on March 19, 1941. She departed this life on June 1, 2019
Frances loved the Lord and at the age of 5 she joined the Holabird Church. After moving from Holabird Homes at the age of 8 she was baptized at the David Memorial Baptist church under the leadership of Rev. William Baymon Davis, Pastor and founder. Frances loved to sing more than to eat and everywhere she went her voice would ring out praising the Lord. Frances joined the Old Land Mark Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. George M. Cockrell. She worked hard with others to get this church together and by the grace of God they marched in. People would say this was her church because of all the Special Services they had. God blessed her with a gift that no matter what the services, the church would be full and on Holy Ghost fire for the Lord. She was always a faithful Bible Study student and never missed Wednesday night Bible Study or Sunday School. She was president of the Senior Choir and Pastor Aide. No matter which church they were invited to Sis. Gibbs would always strike up “He Touched Me” for her to sing. She attended Old Land Mark Church for 20 years.
Frances Joined New Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church April 20, 1988 under the leadership of Rev. Robert L. Haynes. She was the president of the New Unity Choir for 9 years. Frances started the Prayer Band with the Missionary of NPG; she was chairperson of Men and Women’s Day 1992 and 1993; In charge of Evangelist and every Saturday was out alone or with her group. When Frances joined NPG she began traveling to the National Baptist Conventions. She was a part of the church wide Institutional and the Pre-Congress Musical Choir.
