Transitioned from this earthly home into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 12th 2018.
Delores was born on December 27th, 1932 to the late Lucille Hewitt and Joseph Hayward. She was the youngest of her two siblings, Myrtle Lipscomb and Vernon Hewitt, who preceded her in death.
Delores was born lil’ ol Delores Hewitt, and was educated in the Baltimore City Public school system, where she later met, fell in love and married the love of her life, Mr. Joseph C. Hughes, who preceded her in death. To this union, five children were born. The late Gail C. Hughes, Aaron Hughes Sr., Donna Hughes (Cooley), The late Quintin C. Hughes, and Oglevis Hughes.
Delores was no stranger to hard work before obtaining employment at St. Vincent De Paul, where she worked the better part of twelve years.
Delores later had to depart due to medical reasons but she didn’t stop there. She raise some of her grandkids and great grandson Micheal Barnes II. She was very stern, and didn’t take no mess. She said what she meant,,, and she meant what she said ! She had a heart of gold, giving advice when needed, very caring and loving… To know her was to love her.
Strong believer in the lord. She was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church for over 20 years.
Delores leaves to cherish her memory, her son Aaron Hughes Sr, daughter-in-law Ruby Hughes, daughter Donna Cooley,son-in-law Wykean Cooley Sr., daughter Oglevis Hughes, and her finacee Micheal Elliott; brother and sister-in-Law Melvin and Thione Hughes; grandsons Wykean Cooley Jr, Aaron Hughs Jr., Steven Robinson Jr., Edward Hughes, Catron Cooley, Carl Robinson, Lashawn Robinson, who preceded her in death; Grandsons-in-law Joseph Miller and Steven Staton; granddaughters; Sherry Johnson’ Miller, April Robinson, Angela Hawkins, Christina Robinson, Lakeacha Hughes”Staton, Tawanda Hughes, Yvonne Hughes, Shameka Cooley, Vicky Hardy; granddaughter-in-laws Subira Hughes, Lakesha Cooley, Markeisha Robinson, and Lynette Williams” Cooley (Fiancee). God daughter Marsha Johnson. Nieces Robin, Roslyn and Perryetta,who preceded her in death. Nephews Howard, Tony, Terry, and nephews who preceded her in death, Perry and Allen and a host of over 20 Great Grands and Great Great Grands..
