Delores M. Crider

October 19, 1938 ~ October 23, 2017 (age 79) 79 Years Old

Delores Mae “Dee” Crider entered her rest on October 23, 2017 after a

lengthy illness. She has born on October 19, 1938 in Baltimore, Maryland to the

late William Henry Vernon and Lila Mae (Weston) Vernon.

Delores was educated in the Baltimore City Public Schools and graduated from

Douglass High School in 1956. Delores attended the Apex School of Nursing and

was employed as a Nurse Assistant at Johns Hopkins Hospital and Rosewood

Center in Owings Mills, Maryland.

Delores married Eugene (Sarge) Crider (who preceded her in death) and from this

union are three children: Juanita, Vernon and William. Delores gave her life to

Christ at an early age and was a member of Bethel AME Church for many years.

She served on the Youth Choir, as an Usher and the Youth Council. She later joined

Trinity AME Church where she attended until she experienced health challenges.

Delores enjoyed her neighbors on the 1200 Block of Curley Street and was an active

member of the Eastern District Community Council and Eastside Neighborhood

Association. Delores believed that as adults we should do all to ensure that all

children would experience an appropriate quality of life in their communities. She

later carried this same level of commitment to the Parkview at Ashland Terrace

Senior Citizen Complex. Delores served as an active resident and member of the

Tenant Council and made many friends while residing there. Delores was also

an active parent with the PTA at Fort Worthington Elementary and St. Katherine

School. Delores was an avid reader, emphasized education to her children and

believed it was vital to their success.

Delores also enjoyed visiting the Food Depot Supermarket where she would run

into many friends and associates from East Baltimore to catch up on the latest

“gossip”. Delores also enjoyed going to the mall to shop and eat at The Olive

Garden. She also enjoyed Darlene’s cooking. Her calmness and sweetness will

truly be missed.

She leaves to cherish her memory: three children, Juanita, Vernon, one daughterin-

law, Darlene and William; one daughter-in-law to be, Shartia Dickens; one aunt,

Dorothy Robinson (North Carolina); five grandchildren, Ricky Williams, Sean (Mia),

Malachi, Gabrielle and Noah Crider; three great-grandchildren, Laila, Lauren and

Larena; three godchildren, Sandy Carter, Dewayne and Deron Brinkley; and a host

of cousins, family and friends. Additionally, one life-long friend, Augusta Mears.
