Charles M. Cureton, son of the late James and Laura Cureton, Sr., was born February 14, 1938 in Rock Hill, SC. Charles departed his earthly journey on December 17, 2017 after a lengthy illness. At the age of six weeks, Charles’ mother, Laura Cureton passed away. He was then raised by his grandparents William and Bleaker Byrd. Charles accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Crossroads Baptist Church in Rock Hill, SC. He received his education at Emmett Scott High School. Then relocated to Baltimore with his wife and father. He was employed at Flynn Emerick for over 20 years. While in Baltimore, Charles gave his life once again to Christ. He joined New Mount Sinai Baptist Church. At the age of 45, Charles had an aneurysm that left him disabled. Although, Charles was disable, he continued to pursue and enjoy life along with his family. He married the former Emma Lee Mccoy, and out of this union four children were born, Jacqueline, Charlene, Melvin, and William. Charles was a devoted, honest, quiet, and soft-spoken family man. He was a fan of sports especially the Orioles. His favorite television shows were the Westerns. Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Laura Cureton, sister, Virginia Cureton, father James Cureton, brother, James Cureton Jr., step-mother Jeanette Cureton, granddaughter, Lakia Epps, and aunts Artimisha Willis, Bernice Byrd, Ellarie Douglas, and Mary Hemphill. He leaves to mourn: his children, Jacqueline Hicks (James), Charlene Baker, Melvin Leon Cureton (LaDeborah), and William Cureton; sister, Bleaker McCullough; sister-in- law, Gladys Cureton; granddaughters, Latasha Anthony, Chardae Baker, and Alisha Cureton; grandsons, Melvin, James, and Tarell Cureton along with great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
