Welcome to the memorial page for

Calvin Mayo Jr.

December 28, 1947 ~ November 15, 2017 (age 69) 69 Years Old

CALVIN “Cake” MAYO JR., son of the late Calvin C. and Vernell Streat

Mayo, was born on December 28, 1947 in Meherrin, VA. He transitioned

to the next stage on November 15, 2017.

He successfully completed a program, specializing in cabinet making while

at the Job Corp program in Lincoln, Nebraska and later received his GED.

He retired from The Johns Hopkins Hospital EMS Department in 2016.

Calvin was married to the former wonderful, loving, wife, mother,

grandmother and great-grandmother, Minnie Hunter Mayo for fifty years,

and out of this union five children were born.

Calvin was the oldest of six siblings, Pamela Briley (Reginald), Claudette

Davis (Gregory), Diane Johnson, Raynard (Madea and Louis Gwendolyn)

Mayo. He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Calvin Mayo, III and

brother Milton Muldrow.

Calvin was lovingly known as Cake and to some friends as KK. He

absolutely loved his music, dogs, going to the movies and most of all

going dancing with his wife Minnie. Every affair they went to, they took

pictures and argued about who Cake was flirting with. He had a smile

you couldn't forget, kept you laughing and always up to date on current

events and what was happening in the world. Calvin was loved by many

and will be sincerely missed by everyone who knew him.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his daughters, Vernetta Mayo, Melissa

Winfield (William), and Tam'ara Mayo; his sons, Devin and Balewa (Tehra)

Mayo; grandsons, Michael Blackwell, Keith, Kerry, Domiano, Dominic, Eric,

Devin, Matu, Malik, Trey, Rahim, Maurice and Kenyan; granddaughters,

Jonell and Janay Scott, Tiesha, lesha, Garnetta, Keosha, Mareka and

Shenarah; step granddaughter, Lashay; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces,

nephews, other relatives and friends.

Calvin's spirit will continue to live on in each of those he touched and his

children will continue to carry his warm smile and love in their hearts.

May God Bless You.
