Anthony Mayes Obituary

Anthony Mayes, son of the late Hazel Moore and Sammie Mayes departed this life on August 31st 2019 at 5:55 pm. Anthony has always had a strong faith in God. In 2017 he joined the Saint Paul Community Baptist Church where he was a member until he transitioned. Anthony or “Ant Mo” as he was affectionately called by his siblings received his formal education in the Baltimore City Public Schools Systems. He received his high school diploma from Lake Clifton High School. Anthony held numerous career opportunities in his lifetime. He worked for Living Classrooms as a Crew Leader and Sweep Rite as a Driver. He also worked at the Department of Public Works as a Laborer/Driver until he became sick in 2017. Anthony has three children Kevin (who preceded him in death), twins Demetria and Demetrius. In 1989 Ant Mo met the love of his life Jackie Alali. He referred to her as his queen. They had a cherished relationship that lasted until he departed. Anthony was a very happy person who loved life. Family meant everything to him and oftentimes when you least expected it he would show up at your door. With that big ole smile on his face. He loved to cook and always wanted to host family get togethers as well as attend them. He loved his sports and spent time either watching or playing basketball. He would shame many of the young people with his skills down at 250 court yard. Anthony athletic abilities led him to play football, baseball and many times he would engage in weight lifting as well. Anthony leaves to mourn and cherish his memory his wife: Jackie Mayes, Two Children; Demetria and Demetrius, three brothers; Henry Mayes, James Mayes and William Mayes (Charlotte), three sisters; Brenda Lane Oliver, Carolyn Mack and Vastina Mayes, two brother in-laws Winford Evans and Reginald Evans, two sister in-laws Star Mayes and Gwen Darby (Robert). One great Aunt; Lettie Green and a host of relatives in Baltimore MD and Rock Hill, SC.
