THELMA JEAN MITCHELL, daughter of the late Lonnie Mitchell and Hattie Royal-Mitchell was born on October 10, 1955 in Clinton, North Carolina.
Thelma received her early education in the Clinton, NC public schools. Many years later she went on to successfully complete her education in Baltimore, MD.
She was a devoted and very loving Mother. Some of her favorite pastimes were playing cards and cooking. Everyone who knew Thelma, loved her. She always made everyone feel welcome wherever she was.
Thelma began living with Lupus over 25 years ago. She was very positive and of good spirits; as with all the challenges of her life, she confronted her illness with strength and the belief that the Almighty God was in control.
She departed this life on May 20, 2010. God saw her fight was getting harder and whispered in her ear ''come home my child i'll give you rest, you have done your very best''.
Preceeding her in death: three sisters, Julia, Esther, Joyce Ann: Five brothers: James, Nelson, George, Rommie and Lonnie; one grandson Garrett Jr.
She leaves to mourn: her Soulmate Samuel Atkinson; two sons: Terrance and Jeremy Mitchell; three Daughters: LaShonda Jackson, Charnaka Rhodes, and Samantha Atkinson; one Daughter-in-law: Rhonda Mitchell; two son-in-laws: John jackson III and Chistopher Rhodes, eighteen Grandchildren; Corey, Sharmonique, Shamia, Shaykira, Teonna, Darmonique, Diamond, Terrance, Rayquan, Dayquan, Janiya, Teron, Richarn, Miya, Jamiyah, Kristen, Kiristen, and Destiny; five great grandchildren:Lisette, Breyell, Kyon, London and Elea; one sister, Melva Harris; three brothers Paul, Roland and Mack Ray Mitchell; one very good friend, Barbara Marible and a host of nieces & nephews.
