Welcome to the memorial page for

Thomas E. Dutton

March 3, 1933 ~ September 6, 2017 (age 84) 84 Years Old

DEACON THOMAS EUGENE DUTTON, was born March 3, 1933, son of Joseph and the late Mary Dutton Goodman. He left this earthly home for his heavenly home on September 6, 2017.

A native of Baltimore City, he was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. He met and married the love of his life, Delores E. Custis in March 1989. He joined Zion Hill Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Franklin C. Blackmon. Deacon Dutton was well loved by all. He would always say something to make you laugh. Deacon Dutton was a Charter Member of New Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

The Church organized in 1980 at 1517 N. Gay Street under the leadership pf Pastor Franklin C. Blackmon. He, along with son, Thomas, Jr. and other men in the church built the choir stand and pulpit. The same pulpit the preacher is preaching from today. Deacon Dutton was serious about the things he did around the church. He loved to praise and Worship the Lord. He never asked for money for labor, just for the materials used to do what had to be done in and around New Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Not only did he work with his son, Thomas Dutton Jr., he also had help from Brother Leroy Mason and Deacon Arthur Johnson.

Deacon Dutton worked for the Housing Authority for forty years and eleven days. Deacon Dutton was a member of the Deacons Ministry, Tape Ministry, Sunday School and Wednesday Night Bible Study. Deacon Dutton along with his wife, Deaconess Delores E. Dutton cleaned the church for many years. He was also a member of the New Unity Choir, he stepped down to do work around building up the Kingdom of God.

Deacon Dutton is a father of five children and eight step-children, Thomas Dutton Jr. (deceased), Deborah Dutton (deceased), Theresa Dargan (deceased), extended family, Michael Custis (deceased),  and Eric Custis (deceased).

He leaves to mourn in his death: his wife, Delores E. Dutton; daughters, Brenda Dutton Washington and Patricia Dutton; his extended family, Yvonne Briscoe (Larry), Joanne Watty, Janice Custis, James Custis Jr., (Tammy), Sharon Butcher (Eddie), and Adam Custis. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Deacon Thomas Dutton, you were loved and will be missed by all.
