SHERMAN LAMAR CARROTHERS JR., also known as "Scooter", was the first born son of the former L'Tonya Paulette Ryles and the late Sherman Carrothers Sr. Scooter departed this life suddenly on February 8, 2017.

Sherman received his education from Lake Clifton High School, where he became a star football player, playing alongside his "favorite cousin", Floyd Matthews, Jr. Upon graduation Sherman held several jobs until he became employed by Gardner's Furniture Company. At the time of his death, he was employed with Kohl's a job that he loved.

Scooter was baptized at a very young age at David Memorial Baptist Church. His favorite pastime was spending time with his four daughters and three sons. He also loved to fish, cook and eat. Everywhere he went and at every home he visited he expected something to eat.

Sherman always seemed larger than life. Indestructible, strong willed, controlling, determined, unbending in his convictions, opinionated and not afraid to express his opinion-to anyone, anywhere and anytime. He was always the strong one. The go-to person for so many people, family and friends alike for so many things. He was very social and anywhere he traveled, he made friends.  

All of us, mother, children, grandchildren, brothers and friends have so many good memories of Scooter that we will never forget and he will be forever in our hearts and minds until we meet again.

Those who rejoice in the celebration of his life and cherish precious memories are his mother and stepfather, L'Tonya and Virgil Streat; four daughters, Shequera, Shannon, Sherie and Shae; three sons, Darius, Sherman III and Isiah; four grandchildren, Riyan, Kailyn, Christian and Tyler; three brothers, Robert, Philip and Jason (Mona); seven nieces and nephews; best friend, Joe Lynch; aunts, uncles, cousin and a host of other relatives and friends.
