Roosevelt Rice

October 15, 1932 ~ April 3, 2017 (age 84) 84 Years Old

ROOSEVELT RICE son of the late Noah and Carrie Rice, was born on October 15, 1932 in Blackstock, South Carolina. He was one of thirteen siblings. After a lengthy illness, GOD decided to call him home early Monday morning, April 3, 2017. His labor here on earth was now complete and he received his heavenly reward.

Roosevelt was called "Velt" by many and "Rice" to others. He accepted Christ at an early age. Roosevelt received his education in South Carolina. He served in the Army for four years, and later moved to Baltimore, Maryland where he started his career at Bethlehem Steel. After forty-six years with the company as a steel pourer, Roosevelt retired in 1996. He was also a Mason for several years.

Roosevelt was a family man, who truly loved his family. He was known as the "Watermelon Man" with those Sweet Ones, straight from The Carolinas. He loved to cook, play cards, watch Westerns, make wine and preserve, and just enjoy life. He often took trips back and forth to South Carolina.

Roosevelt had a truthful kind of humor. It was the truth, but it was also funny and straight up. He was a sharp dressed man, always sporting some type of hat and a pair of shades to compliment his outfit. Along with his dynamic dressing, he had a love for fine cars. He was just a cool cat...a man that you can depend on.

Roosevelt was preceded in death by his parents and twelve siblings.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his daughter, Tanya Rice; son, Charles Faulkner; two granddaughters, Tinika and Cy'Naisha; five grandsons, Lil' Charles, Lil' Kenneth, Brandon, Miles and La'Rahie; one brother, John-Moses Rice; one sister-in-law, Shirley Rice; special niece, Shirley Green; special nephew, Bill Rice; very special son-in-law, Larry Lee; and a host of other great-grands, relatives and friends.
