Leon Guichard, Jr.

Leon Guichard Jr., son of the late Leon Guichard, Sr.and Mary Green Guichard was born January 15, 1948 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He departed this life on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 in Baltimore, Maryland.

 Leon received his education at the Southern University State School for the Blind in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. While in attendance there, he met and married his first wife, the late Shirley Winnfield and to this union Coutrell Demond Guichard was born. Upon completion of his education, he began working at Royal Oak Restaurant as a sous-chef and remained there for 10 years. He later went on to work at the Lighthouse for the Blind as a machine operator and worked there for 15 years.

 Leon's life enjoyment and passion was music and once giving his life to Jesus Christ he played for the glory of God. He played the trumpet, congas, and bongos. Leon also enjoyed songwriting and wrote many, his favorite were "Let Us Worship" a song featured on The Releasing of Many Waters cd and" O God Be Exalted". As a member of Living Waters World Ministries for 12 years, he served in several capacities for God's kingdom and his proudest accomplishment was completing the ordination classes to become a Deacon of the church.

 In 1994, Leon met Lillie Ann Jones, the woman he would spend the rest of his life with. On December 23, 1995, the two exchanged their vows of holy matrimony.

He was preceded in death by his three sisters: Carolyn Guichard, Emelda Curtis, and Josephine Davis ; one great uncle: J.S. Guichard; He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Lillie Ann Guichard, two sons: Coutrull Demond Guichard(Kristie) and LaVan Jermaine Jones; one daughter: Latischa Yvette Jones; 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grand children; one sister: Ora Mae Holmes who raised him since the age of four and was affectionately known as “mama”; one brother-in-law : Richard Lee Cohen, Sr.; one sister-in-law: Shirley Ann Cain(James) and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
