She was married to the late Leroy Winkler on January 15, 1933. Katherine was

From this union came two sons, James Winkler (whom preceded her in death)
and Leroy Winkler Jr. In July 1968, she decided to expand her family and became
a foster mother to George and Keith Goodwin.
Upon relocating to Baltimore, Katherine united with the Faith Baptist Church on
October 3, 1937 by Christian experience. Katherine was a faithful and devoted
member of the Faith Baptist Church where she remained until her health no
longer permitted her to attend.
Katherine was employed at Amour Steel company and Mervo High School. She
decided to devote her time to becoming a full time foster mother later in life.
She was known as a soft spoken individual who enjoyed her family, neighbors
and friends. She enjoyed sitting on her steps and under the tree, while laughing
and joking with her neighbors on hot summer days.
