JAP DUNLAP, son of the late John Leak and Sadie Allender was born on February 8, 1935 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He departed this life on July 17, 2017 after a lengthy illness.
Jay received his education in the Winston Salem, North Carolina Public School System. It was there that he received his early religious training and grew to young manhood.
Relocating to Baltimore, Maryland Jay was gainfully employed by L & J Contractors for over 20 years. Here he united with the Mt. Calvary Free Will Baptist Church and was a faithful member for over 30 years. Brother Jay was an active participant in the Missionary Ministry, the Adult Bible Class and the Senior Ushers until his health began to fail.
Pop-Pop, Dada or Jay as we affectionately called him, he loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. His favorite past-time was leaning back in his recliner reading and watching westerns. But most of all Pop-Pop loved and looked forward to going to The Habachi Grill, his favorite eating place.
he leaves to cherish his memory, a loving and devoted wife, Margaret; 14 children, 4 of whom preceded him in death, 27 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, 3 sisters preceded him in death, 3 sisters-in-law, and a host of other relatives and friends.
