ESTHER GROSS was born on August 11, 1926 in York County South Carolina, to the late Mace and Alice Ervin. She was the second child of five: Robert Argus, Jessie Ervin, Gilmore Ervin (who proceeded her in death) and Alice (Bea) Foster.
Esther, gave her life to Christ at an early age, she was a member of Big Curry Baptist Church in Rock Hill, South Carolina. She received her education from York County public school and after graduation she married the late Henry McCoy and three daughters came from this union: Dorothy Green, Emma Cureton (who both proceeded her in death) and Amanda Cunningham.
In the early 1950's Esther relocated to Baltimore, MD. In which; she began working as a private duty nurse. In 1974 she married the late Richard Gross who loved her dearly. She retired in 1985, but had such a passion for nursing so she returned to work as a part-time private duty nurse until her health would no longer allow her to work any longer.
Esther's first love was for her family and her second love was for her dogs who she treated just like a member of her family. She was a very vibrant and wise woman who loved to talk and share many stories of her life experiences.
She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter Amanda Mae Cunningham, One sister Alice Beatrice Foster, sixteen grandchildren, twenty nine great grandchildren, thirty five great great grandchildren, one great great great grandchild, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and one special God child Devin Edmonds.
