Welcome to the memorial page for

Arnisha L. Owens

August 9, 1990 ~ August 6, 2017 (age 26) 26 Years Old

ARNISHA LARRI OWENS the daughter of Larry Owens, Sr. and Angela Evans was born on August 9, 1990 in Baltimore, Maryland. She transitioned from labor to reward on August 6, 2017. Arnisha was educated in Christian and Baltimore Public Schools. She graduated from the International Baccalaureate program at the Baltimore City College High School in June 2008. She also attended Morgan State University and Essex Community College. Arnisha was athletic, creative, a natural born leader and a very intellectual and critical thinker.

At Baltimore City College she played basketball, softball and lacrosse, she was so talented as a lacrosse player that the Baltimore Sun interviewed her for an article that they printed about her quickness and style. Everyone who witnessed her on the field were so impressed that she had never played the game of Lacrosse before and as she had stated "That she only tried out because her mother said that it would be good to try something different". She went on to become the MVP for lacrosse at the sports award that year. She would also continue to play "Coachie" during the traveling league. Arnisha was a member of the Baltimore Dance Tech School founded by Yvonne E. Walker and Stephanie Powell who is the artistic director. She began dancing at age 6 and continued until she graduated high school. She was also a member of the International Blacks in Dance Association where she traveled throughout the United States and Canada to perform. She studied at the Nathan Carter School of Music at the New Shiloh Baptist Church under the direction of Dr. Alberta Starks, there she learned to read music as well as perfecting her voice and drums.

Arnisha was a quick learner and what she learned she taught her younger brother Larry whom she named "brother" it was at her hands that he began to excel. While in high school she was a mentor in Celebrate Life, it's a family Affair mentoring program for at risk youth founded by Evangelist Lorraine Turner. Arnisha was born and raised in the First Apostolic Faith Church of Jesus Christ International under the leadership of Apostle Franklin Cornelius Showell. On June 23, 1999 after hearing Elder John Hannah at a youth revival she was filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost, and on January 1, 2000 she was baptized in the name of Jesus. She was a member of the youth choir and Sunday School, she served as mistress of ceremony at youth conferences, she traveled with the youth at conventions, she loved telling her friends about Jesus and bringing them to church with her. She held various jobs throughout her life, she was a salesperson at Downtown Locker-room, assistant manager at Pizza Hut, a customer service representative, a Spanish Interpreter for the Census Bureau, a smart meter installer for BGE and a security guard at John Hopkins Hospital.

Arnisha was affectionately known as "Scooty" this name was given to her by her father because when she was one month old she would scoot down in the crib. Arnisha loved her parents dearly and everyone knew that she was a daddy's girl. From the time, she was born he taught her how to ride bikes, how to keep sturdy the motorcycle handles and he even taught her how to drive a car. She would wait to hear the back-door open when he came home from work and would run to see what he would bring her.

When Arnisha was in middle school her brother, Larry met 4 amazing people who would change the life for the both of them. Because of their generosity they were able to attend sports camps, theatre camps and travel around the world including London, Spain and the Dominican Republic. Because of her interest in criminal investigating she attended the Forensic Science Summer program at he University of Miami and they even helped her with her expenses for an entire year when she moved out ion her own.

She was forever grateful for their dedication and commitment to her. On July 25, 2011 while the song Push it Good by Salt and Pepper was playing Payton-Brooke Montez Moyd arrived. She and Martez loved and cared for their daughter unconditionally. Her faith in God was first and after him nothing meant more than her "Dinky" or "Stinky Butt" as she would call her. It's always God who does all things well. We will be forever grateful for the Lord redeeming the time and allowing Arnisha to take Payton to New Jersey and  then to Florida. Where Rayne was able to capture the memories of her time with her daughter in pictures. Now looking back we understand that it was the Lord's doing when she celebrated Paytons Birthday for an entire week before culminating it with her birthday party on July 17, 2017. Arnisha was so animate about this party, even refusing store-bought cupcakes, they had to be made by her including the icing, for the Lord only tell us in part. We give God all the praise for the memories that he has given to Payton-Brooke with her mom. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmothers, Evelyn and Elizabeth Evans; her paternal grandparents, John and Shirley Owens; and six cousins.

Forever cherishing her memories are her daughter, Payton- Brooke Moyd; her parents, Larry Owens, Sr. and Angela Evans; four sisters, Lesha (Darwin) Brooks, Nataisha Williams, Jinear Boyd and Tenae Owens; one brother, Larry Owens Jr.; one grandfather, Angelo Evans; one nephew, Evan; two nieces, Janiya and Jordyn; eleven aunts, seven uncles, one great aunt, three great uncles, god-parents, god-brothers and sisters and a host of other cousins and friends, special thanks to Rayne, Martez and the Moyd-Anderson family.
